The gastronomy of Dubrovnik and Southern Dalmatia is truly specific and very important in the tradition of this climate zone.
The gastronomy of Dubrovnik and Southern Dalmatia is truly specific and very important in the tradition of this climate zone.
Our first gastronomic post is called Vid. The river Neretva abounds in eels and frogs, which, prepared in different local ways, become the true specialities of the region. Served while sailing along Neretva aboard a typical boat, they taste even better. The Ston oyster, which has been bred since the Roman period, is the most prestigious Croatian product. You will surely enjoy savouring their delicious meat aboard a vessel sailing across the protected bay of Mali Ston, where they grow, appreciating at the same time views to the surrounding nature with the Isle of Life right in front of you. We will then dock at Ston, one of the first European towns built according to a master plan. Known for its ramparts, which represent the second longest best preserved fortification system in the world, after the Wall of China, Ston also boasts one of the oldest functioning salt factories in Europe, dating back to the 14th Century. But this is not all! Ston is a real gastronomic excursion spot, fulfilling the expectations of the most demanding connoisseurs. It is now your turn to savour delicious meals during lunch in one of the best local restaurants. Fine food comes with good wines, in this case unmistakably the ones from the peninsula of Pelješac, the renowned grape-wine growing and vine-producing region. We will taste some of them after lunch in the winery of the Miloš family in the village of Ponikve
